Hyderabad, Aug 11: Telangana Legislature Estimates Committee chairman Solipeta Ram Linga Reddy, along with other members, visited and inspected Durgam Cheruvu and Rangdham Cheruvu at Kukatpally today.
The Committee Members, MLAs, K. Prabhakar Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Vemula Veeresham and Anjaiah, MLC Prabhakar Rao, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, HMDA Commissioner Shalini Mishra and other officials were also present during the inspection of Durgam Cheruvu and Rangdham Cheruvu at Kukatpally. The Committee Members have inspected the Durgam Cheruvu and unauthorized constructions which were come up in buffer zone for which the Chairman of the Estimate Committee directed the GHMC, HMDA, Irrigation and other related Government Department Officials to furnish all the details of unauthorized constructions to the Committee. The 160 acre lake was constructed during the Qutb Shahi reign between 1518 -1687.
Ram Linga Reddy informed that the Rangdham Cheruvu would be developed in to a mini tank bund with Rs. 2 crores by the GHMC. During the inspection the Chairman has informed the Rangdham Cheruvu has not been encroached only the apartment owners have built the compound walls for which he has directed the Revenue Officials to demolish the compound walls. Later the Committee visited the nearby Sunnam Cheruvu where complaints were received against the builder for which he issued instructions to the officials to take necessary action accordingly. (INN)
