Hyderabad, July 31: GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar informed that elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of Bonalu festival in the city.
Arrangements like lighting, fogging, parking of the vehicles, re-carpeting of roads, coloring of temples and sanitation have been made in a phased manner for which the GHMC has allocated a budget of Rs. 10 crores.
The Commissioner said that bonalu has already started in Golkonda and now being celebrated in all the 18 circles. Nearly 345 works have been sanctioned with a cost of Rs. 9.98 crores and the works are in progress. The same funds will be utilized for decoration of temples, recarpeting of roads and other major works for the convenience of the citizens to participate in the Bonalu festival. The main areas in the old cities, where the procession is going to take place, have been identified and all elaborate arrangements are being taken up.
The Commissioner said that the main procession will be held on 2nd August.
Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy and Excise Minister T. Padma Rao, along with GHMC Commissioner, have already been inspected the arrangements at Golkonda areas last week. The Commissioner, along with senior officials of the GHMC has inspected some of the areas of Laldarwaza Mahankali Temple on Friday. City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy has also participated at the inspection. (INN)
